A Variety of Music for Ballet Class offers choices of music
for almost all exercises and combinations. This recording also provides a contrast
of tempos as well as various styles: classical, Broadway musical theatre, and other
types of music.
Many teachers prefer the same music for both sides of each exercise at the barre;
in this case they may simply play the same piece over again. This allows space on
the CD for more musical selections.
The list of music in the insert (and on the back cover) is a basic guideline for
the teacher and the class, as well as for the individual student. Of course, the
order of these tracks can be changed. For example, the music for the center tendus
and the tango pirouettes can lend itself to exercises at the barre.
My suggestion is to listen to the CD ahead of time to better utilize all the musical
choices it offers.
